FRANK- Sell your stuff to Frank!
Many people are extremely shy when it comes to selling raffle tickets or asking people to order through catalogs. They just can’t think of anyone to ask, or aren’t sure what to say. Scripts make it easy to actually ‘make the ask’ without feeling tongue tied. Well, finding people to ask is the easiest part of the whole equation, since you already know them in one way or another… just ask FRANK!
Who is FRANK? FRANK stands for:
- Friends,
- Relatives,
- Acquaintances,
- Neighbors, and
- Kids’ Connections
These are your key group of people to ask for help in saving animals. Your friends and relatives know your love for animals, and will usually know your level of involvement with the non profit group you are selling items for. These are your core group for an easy sell, since they are aware of your affiliation, and want to help you help the animals. Your acquaintances and neighbors will be a bit more difficult, and you’ll probably use your ’script’ to break the ice and make the ask. If you are selling brochure items or raffle tickets, having them in your hand is an obvious ice breaker, as your acquaintances and neighbors may take notice and ask you first about the items you’re holding. Your kids’ connections are those you may not see frequently, such as their coaches, teachers, or friends’ parents. A friendly e-mail to them or phone call might suffice in order to make the ask.
