October- Goblin Insurance
Looking for a piggyback fundraiser for October? Your group can make money prior
to Halloween selling “Goblin Insurance”. Here’s how it works.
Using a computer and a printer you print up special Halloween Insurance Policies. You charge $5 per residence policy and $15 per business policy. The best part is you keep all the money!
Your rescue volunteers agree to clean up any Halloween messes created by goblins on Halloween night, such as soaped windows, egged houses, or toilet papered trees. You do not agree to repair vandalized items which would include broken windows, knocked over mailboxes, or other items that would involve money. Your policies are strictly for cleaning of the outside of a yard or business, and only involve volunteer cleaning efforts.
Most people will think it’s a clever idea and will donate $5. Sell two hundred ‘policies’ and you have just earned $1000. And, in most cases, if your services are called upon, the policy owners will actually tip your group for their hard work.
Your expense will be the cost of ink and a ream of paper. Send out press releases to the local media, sell policies in front of stores the week prior to Halloween, and keep track of all homes and businesses who have policies by listing them in a database or Excel spreadsheet.
You can also team up with an insurance company in your area to help ’sponsor’ the fundraiser and word your ‘policies’ to make sure you sound official and keep within the scope and intent of the fundraiser.
