Oscar Night America Fundraising Party
There are few things in the world more glamorous than Oscar Night with celebrities dressed to the nines in couture gowns, dripping in jewels. Bring a touch of that class and Hollywood’s Golden Night to your town! Host your own Oscar Night America fundraiser party in your town!
There are over 45 cities across the US where charities will be hosting a special Oscar Night America party as a fundraiser for local charities. All the money raised at these events stays within the city, and supports the local charity. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences allows only a few charities in cities across the US to use the Oscar logo and statue each year. For more info, please visit www.oscars.org and search for Oscar Night America. Or click here: http://www.oscars.org/ona/index.html
Ticket prices range from $35 to over $200, some encourage semi-formal, while others hope for black tie and ’showcase’ dress, where attendees dress like their favorite celebrities or celebrity couples. The events serve hors d’oeuvres, wine and champagne, and the bigger ticket events include a full sit-down dinner, reminiscent of the real Oscar experience. Some charity groups host live auctions, limo rides and a paparazzi red carpet walk complete with photographers, local TV station affiliates interviewing the celebrities, and raffles for the Oscar ballot winners.
Sponsorships will help offset the costs associated with this type of event. Solicit sponsors at various levels to pay for event programs, various hors d’oeuvres tables (especially if you’re using several food stations), cocktail reception sponsor, red carpet sponsors with signage, and various table sponsors. Include ’swag bags’ where each attendee receives coupons and samples from the local sponsors. Include media sponsors as well, and use the local radio DJs or TV news anchors as the interviewee for your own local ‘celebrities’ and attendees.
This is a great opportunity for your charity, or a team of local charities, to host your own Oscar style gala event. If you’re looking for something in the colder months of February (sometimes early March), this might be an amazing opportunity for you to look into for your group! If your area already has chocolate tasting events in February or a Spay-ghetti Dinner at the end of the month, here’s something new to consider. As always, you can start smaller with $50 tickets and heavy hors d’oeuvres and then add in auctions, live bands, a diamond glass of champagne, limo rides and higher ticket prices as you progress. Start small and work your way up!
The Oscar Night America maintains a waiting list for groups to get the ‘ok’ to host an event in their town. They are looking for the largest media markets and only allow one charity to use their trademark in each area. Take a look at the list of cities to see if your city is already taken. That is a great fundraising idea!! This would be especially good for groups who usually do some kind of gala. It looks like the oscars do this every year so groups can plan ahead to get in on 08.
