Pig Out!
Pig Out!
Fundraiser for potbelly pig or guinea pig rescuers, banyard animal rescuers and other rescuers, too!
Support your local pig rescues by pigging out!
Enlist the help of a local restaurant (any type of Chinese buffet, or any restaurant that can help you provide large amounts of food) to provide food for an event where you will charge for an all you can eat dinner. You can host it at an off-site location (such as a civic center, a hotel ballroom, a church fellowship hall) or at the restaurant on a normally off night, or a time when they are normally closed. Outback Steakhouse is not open for lunch, so that would be a great time to host a special event at that restaurant. Many others have off-nights (Mondays and Tuesdays!) that might enjoy a special promotion to bring in more guests! And, many restaurants have a separate party room which your rescue can reserve to host the event.
You may wish to keep this event meat-free, or at least pork free if you are a pig rescue. Not a problem! There are so many amazing dishes that restaurants and caterers can create that would be meat-free, but still provide a wonderful lunch. Most people will be amazed that they ate heartily without eating meat! Pasta meals are an obvious choice, but so are many ethnic meals, such as Indian, Asian and many latin dishes. Think outside the litter box and you can find dozens of dishes at any restaurant that would work as vegetarian friendly! Or, host a heavy hors d’oeuvres event that is vegetarian friendly, using various appetizers and side dishes that avoid meat. Include wine and desserts for a lovely evening.
Sell tickets in advance, so you will have a better idea of the # of attendees, but be prepared to accept more walk-ins at the door as well.
You can ask a local radio station to do a live remote at your event to increase publicity and remind people the day of the event. The radio station may also be able to give out prizes at your event, such as autographed CDs, t-shirts and stickers. Ask the restaurant to advertise at their check-out counters, or provide a biz card with event details to every table with their check. People who are already enjoying the restaurant’s food will obviously be perfect candidates to eat it again! ![]()
